More and more People on the Move try to enter the EU via Serbia. An activist with Collective Aid reports about the situation on the ground.
PUSHBACKS AND VIOLENCE
Winter is coming - pushbacks and violence continue. Yes, pushbacks are illegal, but widespread at EU borders. Police deny People on the Move (PoM) access to their right to apply for asylum. Moreover, they use excessive force, even torture, against PoM during pushbacks.
WINTER AT THE BORDERS
The dire living conditions for People on the Move get even worse when cold temperatures, wind and snow set in. Winter’s hardships add to the ongoing border violence and police brutality. In this post you can read about one of the many threats people are exposed to because of the EUs dehumanizing migration politics.

JOINT ACTION AGAINST THE COLD IN NORTHERN SERBIA
Temperatures are dropping. The freezing winters on the border can be life-threatening, especially for People on the Move (PoM) living in abandoned or demolished buildings and improvised shelters - ,squats'. In the coming weeks several groups will join forces to equip squats in northern Serbia for the coming winter.
FRACH-DONATIONS GOING TO SERBIA AND SARAJEVO
Many people are currently trying again to reach EU member Hungary via Serbia. It has been known for a long time how brutal and unscrupulous Hungary is acting against this. But this does not stop the people. Nevertheless, the current situation means a high need for support in the north of Serbia. We try to support our local partners with donations from our stocks, which are less needed here.

OUR STATEMENT ON THE MEDIA REPORTS ABOUT THE DOCUMENTED PUSHBACKS ON THE BOSNIAN-CROATIAN BORDER

CONTRIBUTION TO THE UN COMMITTEE IN BOSNIA BY BVMN
A month ago the border violence monitoring network (BVMN) was invited by the United Nations (UN) committee on the economic, social and cultural rights (CESCR) to present a submission during the 70th session of the committee. This submission evaluates observations and trends concerning the physical as well as psychological abuse of people-on-the-move in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) that happen during push-backs as well as within BiH and criticizes systematic failings when it comes to provide shelter, health access and basic needs in camps as well as squats (self-organized housings).
